Youth Art Exchange presents:

Art Sparks Action : The 8th Annual San Francisco Youth Arts Summit, a celebration of young artists and their vibrant contributions to the creative and cultural fabric of San Francisco.

On Friday, November 30: 6:30–8:30PM, California College of the Arts and YAX host the third annual Youth Arts Summit Film Festival and film competition.

On Saturday, December 1: 1–5PM, the space will be activated with a gallery viewing of work by YAX students and our partner organizations, a visual arts competition, artmaking with our faculty members, live music and DJs, performances and a performance competition.

All activities are FREE.

The San Francisco Youth Arts Summit, a project facilitated by Youth Art Exchange, is an annual gathering of young artists and arts educators, and the only event of its kind in the Bay Area. At the Summit, young artists lead and participate in workshops, interactive installations, exhibits, and performances. The Summit is a two day event that kicks of with a youth film festival and culminates with a performing arts competition open to all high school youth. In bringing together young artists from across the Bay Area, the Youth Arts Summit represents the next generation’s most innovative artists, film makers, architects, musicians, performers, and writers.

Youth and representatives from organizations across the bay come together to plan the Summit, building leadership and youth voice within the arts education and arts advocacy landscape, and forging deeper connections between young people and the organizations that they represent. We want to connect self identified youth artists to various arts colleges and arts programs and are inviting higher education institutions to participate to provide information and portfolio advice. This spirit of collaboration carries throughout the Summit and beyond to create a growing network of young artists, youth arts organizations, and higher education.

Participating organizations include:

ArtSpan's SF Youth Open Studios + Open Studios

See what the next generation of San Francisco artists has in store! See artwork on display, and meet youth artists from the Youth Open Studios group at Youth Art Exchange. Join the [x]space ArtSpan artists for the SF Open Studios this weekend too!

About ArtSpan's Youth Open Studios Program:

ArtSpan’s Youth Open Studios program provides mentorship, studio/gallery tour field trips and exhibition opportunities for young artists to thrive alongside professional artists as participants in the city-wide SF Open Studios event. Visit Youth Open Studios sites during SF Open Studios on Saturdays, 1-5pm, to support the next generation of artists in San Francisco.

About ArtSpan’s Open Studios:

SF Open Studios, the oldest and largest open studios program in the country, is an annual, month-long art event in October and November that showcases over 800 emerging and established San Francisco artists in their studios. This fall 2018 will mark the 43rd anniversary of SF Open Studios, running for five weekends with a fresh neighborhood map and schedule. We invite you to explore our city and find amazing art at every turn. You’ll discover an authentic connection to your art community and artwork in myriad forms, from painting, photography, and printmaking to glass, metal sculpture, and more. The event connects collectors with artists for engaging dialogue and a glimpse into the life of the working artist; SF Open Studios simultaneously helps artists build their mailing list, gain new admirers, and ultimately sustain a living making art.
